Honored for championing the
cause of home care in the state legislature were
Representative Andy Kerr (D-Lakewood) and Senator Suzanne
Williams (D-Aurora).
HCAC Executive Director said these legislators "took a stand
in the Colorado state house to help us choose home!"
As sponsors of an amendment
to bring fairness and equity to Medicaid long term care
funding, "They actually had to stand up -- they had to
speak out -- they had to take criticism -- and they had to
defend their decision to stand for home care."
The amendment would have
leveled the playing field to allow equitable and fair
reimburse-ment for all health care providers including home
health, home care and hospice. "Our champions did not
waiver. They took a stand. They spoke out. They defended
home care 100 percent and we thank them."
