Workshop Summary

This is Training You Can’t Afford to Miss!

The Home Care Association of Colorado and Fazzi Associates are happy to bring you two days of the most intensive OASIS C training available.  This training is designed specifically to help you start and  succeed with OASIS C. As an attendee, you’ll receive all the "must know" information on the most important changes to the current assessment – and how to respond to each of these changes.  This includes best practice strategies for responding to process of care measures, conventions for completing the most important revised assessment items, and a review of screening questions that will have a dramatic impact on clinical practices. As a participant, you will walk away with current, relevant information and be able to select responses to OASIS data items that accurately describe the patient’s health status and provider care practices in accordance with Medicare regulation, CMS guidance documents and other applicable industry standards after conducting a patient multi-system assessment.

Educational Objectives
After attending these sessions, the attendee will be able to:

  • Discuss the clinical, quality and fiscal significance of the new OASIS data items.

  • Learn effective tools for responding to the OASIS-C process-measures such as depression screening and pressure ulcers.

  • Identify the essential components of multi-system and functional activity assessments and reporting requirements.

  • Get best practice strategies for answering the OASIS-C clinical, functional and wound items.

**Please note: This workshop will not be recorded and, therefore, no tape or CD will be available for purchase.**

As an annual subscriber, your agency will receive:

  • Quarterly online OASIS testing for each registered clinician.
  • A one page summary report after each testing period outlining the score by discipline as well as the option to select two customized reporting categories (e.g. team, location).
  • A detailed report displaying results by individual clinician including a breakdown by question.
  • Immediate scoring e-mailed to the testing clinician and the agency manager after completion of each test.
  • Benchmarking externally against other agencies nationwide as well as internally to show improvements made and areas needing improvement.

Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) Computer Based Testing

The OASIS Certificate and Competency Board, Inc. (OCCB) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting greater reliability in OASIS data, through consistent application of guidelines provided by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). To achieve this goal, the OCCB offers a voluntary certificate examination which home care providers may take in order to demonstrate and establish their expertise and commitment to OASIS data accuracy. This exam is currently the only nationally standardized measure of OASIS accuracy.

Computer based testing is an alternative to the many live, proctored paper and pencil exam administrations currently scheduled. Interested candidates may now choose to take the COS-C exam at one of hundreds of proctored computer-based testing locations nationwide, at a time convenient to your schedule.

Candidates who successfully complete the examination will be awarded the Certificate for OASIS Specialist – Clinical (COS-C) designation by the OCCB.

**Please note that registration for the exam is NOT included in registration for the "Foundations for OASIS Competency" workshop.**

For details on the exam and certification, and to register, please visit the OCCB website at www.oasiscertification.org
